Funny that when we play man D it’s some huge accomplishment. We can play man all day but bull rushing 4 lineman straight into the OL without any stunts, twists, etc. isn’t anything special.
It’s the totality of the scheme and it’s implementation that’s the issue.
Minimal pass rush, minimal turnovers, poor 3rd down success, etc., weak tackling and fundamentals.
It’s possible we’ve struggled to recruit quality at the Dline due to the system but that responsibility would fall on the person running the system.
Would you really worry our defense would make a big step back if Tuiaki isn’t running it? I don’t, but of course this is just my opinion.
