ARod has his QB preference, borrowed from the Utah template. Mobile, athletic QBs. Great. Nice to have. But BYU would have been better off banking on a passing QB that can spread the field and utilize the abundance of quality receivers on this roster. I love Hall, but to be honest and objective he is not developing as a passing quarterback able to spread the field. Yes, he can pass action throw it up to our big receivers who do a great job coming down with the ball, but the other parts of his game are just not developing. Romney has shown the ability to develop as a passing quarterback that can distribute and progress. He is also much more accurate. He has everything Hall has and then some, except the dynamic running ability that can go to the end zone. But because Hall is injury prone (some guys just are—not his fault) we don’t really even use that advantage. Thus, why not Romney... I doubt Romney stays. What happens next year if Romney is gone, Hall gets injured or still doesn’t progress (don’t believe he will much) then yes we go to Conover, a young quarterback that will have growing pains. Romney would’ve been a better choice IMO. Time will tell.
