BYU should be managed by a private board of trustees, none of whom are General Authorities or Officers. And BYU's vision and purpose should not be dictated by the Church. BYU should be allowed to operate as an unfettered, real university for hiring and research purposes.
Even more controversial take:
BYU should not be owned by the Church and reduce undergrad enrollment by 30% and raise graduate studies by 20%. That could be too hard of a take, so I'm not necessarily advocating for it.
But I think it could be very healthy for BYU to be managed by faithful sisters and brothers on a board that is not connected to Church HQ, or moreover, the boss of Church HQ.....It sort of seems like a conflict of interest otherwise.
