I see people are thinking this news that ESPN is leaving the Big Ten is good
news for the PAC. But, from an economic perspective who is ESPN competing with now to get the PAC-12 contract? ESPN is still a Tier 1a channel and while the late night slot is the lowest rated slot compared to all the other Tier 1 slots (BY FAR), it’s still easily higher than all the Tier 2 slots. I think this actually makes it worse for them because again there’s no one else that can go in the late night slot consistently and the PAC can’t go in the noon ET slot at all. Why does ESPN have to now increase their offer to the PAC. It didn’t seem like they competing with anyone for the PAC’s Tier 1 games
