ESPN is likely the sole bidder, so why should it pay the PAC more?

If the PAC doesn’t like it, ESPN can go to the Big 12 and use BYU for those slots and coax over some PAC schools.

I don’t think this has any bearing whatsoever on negotiations with the PAC. Who is Kliavkoff going to go to as an alternate? PAC doesn’t fit NBC’s Sat slot (used for B1G during primetime) or CBS’s 3:30 B1G spot. The only thing available is noon EST.

People assume that since ESPN needs to fill that slot, they'll pay a premium to get it now. They won't have to.
