Well, the first thing you should do is Nothing. If this is just her getting
scared in the middle of the night, you should tell her how illogical it is to get a gun for the reason she is stating.
Having said that, people do illogical things all the time with their money, like buying expensive electric cars for any reason other than you want an expensive cool looking car (which, let's be honest, is why they buy the car regardless of what they tell themselves). And now I'm off topic.
