On this roster he doesn't bring enough as an overall player to justify his shooting for major minutes. His shooting is not dynamic like a Barcello, although he does have a quick release & knows how to use a screen very effectively.
Even still, if Trevin were healthy, playing time would've been an uphill battle for him. As Richie Saunders showed in our first practice, the kid not only has an impressive motor — but has the length & athleticism to be a very solid defensive player at the D1 level (& quite possibly beyond). He made life very difficult for SJ inside when he was guarding him (which happened quite a bit, probably by design.) While Richie's no Barcello at this point, he looks to be a more dynamic shooter than Knell. Knell hustles on D, & is quick enough to get it done at the D1 level, but often times is outmatched, & doesn't have the raw potential to ever be a help defender like a Saunders or Robinson could & should be.
As for Robinson — we need for him to find a bit more of a motor. More than a bit. While there's some undeniable value in being cool, calm & collective — the kid's got way too much of that going for him, from what I can see. I gotta assume that's been his main struggle at getting playing time to this pt in his college career. And you could tell from the practice a bit Pope's gentle handling of him probably has an expiration date close at hand. I sensed a bit of "frustration" in the gentle tone. And we all should know by now Pope don't leave "frustrations" undone.
