A rivalry is born by people caring about a game or a team more than others. To those who live among Aggie fans, this absolutely is a rivalry because of the annoyance factor. They have become so annoying (not all USU fans, just most) that people in the vicinity get sick of them enough to elevate this game to a rivalry. I.E. They want to shut up Aggie fans more than they want to beat some other random G5.


I don't live in Utah. I don't see USU as a rival. I don't care about USU at all. I do think it almost pathetically adorable that they think they are a BYU "Rival". Depending on the definition of rival they subscribe to and where they live, some BYU fans may call USU a "rival", but never the "Rival"
USU fans hope for or the "RIVAL" BYU is to USU fans.


My requirements for a rival:

A) Play regularly
B) Care more about beating them (not just "not loosing") more than most other (comparable) teams on the schedule.


Rivalry check:
1) Utah: A) Yes B) Yes
2) USU: A) Yes B) No. I don't want to loose to them because that would be embarrassing many loud USU fans even more annoying, but that isn't the same.
3) BSU: A) Yes B) On their way (or at least they were) Both teams have foiled or at least soured great seasons by the opposing team with unexpected victories.
