I bought my first home as a college student with 6% interest rate
which is similar to interest rates we've had recently. I had 2 kids at the time. No support from parents. So I understand buying a home with higher interest rates. Yes I know things are tougher now than they were even 3 years ago. I totally get it. I still feel 100K is sufficient. You're not rich, but in many places it would work.
