Can see significant flaws in the defense goes to show something internally was off and needed addressing. I remember watching stanford wide outs running in the middle of the field multiple times with no defender within 10 yards, and the QB found them 90% of the time. That screams bad scheme to me… especially when listening to the pregame show talking about how our drop 8 is actually man coverage with rovers to fill gaps. When i hear that I am reminded about the Utah Jazz players not being defensively sound because they hoped Rudy Gobert could cover for their defensive mistakes, when the nba teams figured out how to play against the Jazz they had no choice but to blow up the team and start fresh. I think that over the past year and a half people have figured out how to beat Tuiaki’s defensive scheme and the only way to regain the competitive advantage is through changes, not just with one coach, but likely multiple. Player personnel needs some change too. BYU needs to hit the transfer portal hard, and not play the silly games that they are in losing recruits, because as we all know, next year things get real! So, on to the rebuild!
