I worry Pope has sacrificed long term development and program build for short
Term wins via the portal. If I could see any indication that he is laying a future foundation of success, I am ok with some down years. Unfortunately, it feels we are getting immediate mediocrity and delayed player and program development. Did the early success with transfers (e.g., Toolson, Barcelona, and Harms) cause him to continue down the transfer route too heavily rather than invest more in the young guys?
There has been an investment into some of the young guys, Fous, GG, AAA, etc., but feels a little thin.
