Beemers and Range Rovers tells me those parents are just so rich I can't compare anything in my life to their choices
I got my teens a car to share, mainly so i didn't have to get up at 5am to drive them to seminary.
I do give them a decent car when they're in college, with the expectation they will use it to get to work/school and care for it lovingly so it will see them well into their career after graduation. Still, not crazy expensive cars- more like 5yr old Subaru Outback or Ford Fusion.
I have the money to get them a car like that and it's basically a necessity for work and life in the US today. I'd rather they not have to worry about not having transportation and have to turn down job opportunities, or be able to come home for school breaks, or have big repair bills for a cheapo crap car.

What year are they? It could very well be that a 2003-2010 BMW or Range Rover will look newer and nicer than your
