Thomas Bingham is my great great great grandfather. He and his brother found the copper deposits in Bingham canyon in 1848. Bringham Young encouraged them not to become miners but to open new settlements for the church instead, they were promised that their posterity would be more greatly blessed by this then if they opened a mine. They listened to the prophet and the rest is history.
