I think the plan that many in the PAC-10 are hoping for is ... live to fight another day.
In the "Glass Houses" thread, the question was "Why would any BigXII team for the PAC?" and right now, this year, that is true... no one would.
BUT, I think the PAC thinks that fundamentally, they have a superior product. And they do have some strategic advantages that they might be able to exploit (for example, geographically, BigXII kind of has to fight a 2 or 3 front war, that PAC generally doesn't have to worry about).
So, yeah, THIS YEAR, there is no way a BigXII team jumps.
BUT (and I am not saying this will happen, but rather that it is what the PAC is hoping for at this point), let's say the AppleTV thing works GREAT, and that linear TV keeps decreasing... in 3-4 years, the PAC-xx, if it survives, might be in position to say "Hey, our NEXT contract with AppleTV will be bigger and better than the BigXII next contract as the 3rd or 4th class conference on dying linear ESPN". (again, I'm not predicting that ... saying I think it might be the position the PAC teams are hoping for in 3-4 or 5 years)
They lost this battle. But if they can live to fight another day, they think they might win the war in the next round.
