Easiest path depends on a lot of things
If the playoff was in the 2021 season the Pac 12 would not have made it. Maybe the Pac 12 is too low for a easy playoff spot.

In the 2021 season, the PAC absolutely would have made it. The 6 highest ranked conference champs were

  1. Alabama (#1 overall)
  2. Michigan (#2 overall)
  3. Cincinnati (#4 overall)
  4. Baylor (#7 overall)
  5. Utah (#11 overall)
  6. Pitt (#12 overall)

But more to the point, it depends how you define conference strength.  This is not intended to represent the PAC and the Big 12 but consider two conferences.

Conference A has 3 perennial top 10 teams...and 9 other teams that fall anywhere from #80 to #100.

Meanwhile every one of Conference B's 12 teams is in the #20 to #50 range.

Which conference is better?  Which is easier to win?  The answer may not be the same.

Best depends a lot more on depth. Easiest to win depends a lot more on the top end.
