Watching March Madness this year, not just in the NCAA tourney, but in the NIT, too, I see some talented big men at small schools. The players are better than what Pope brought in the past couple of years. There has to be a better way of finding talented big men that Pope is missing out on. I'm not lumping Fouss or Atiki into this. Both of them are a strong part of our core group of players.
I think one of the most crucial missing pieces is a 7' player that will get us 8-12 points a game, 8-10 rebounds a game and solid defense. We can get these guys at these smaller schools if the staff can identify them and bring them in. Unless of course, the UVU staff is just plain better at coaching and developing big men.
Fardaws Aimaq comes to mind too. He was at UVU and was dominant. Just another example.
If Fouss had a 7' solid defender with good offensive production next to him, I tend to think he would be even more productive than he was this last year.
