Weekly update on weight loss 100 mile ride (he may have literally saved somebody's life yesterday)
Increased his FTP by 10 last week. He noticed it got harder (I didn't tell him I upped it), so we're keeping him at 100 watt FTP for now. Still going super easy while he loses weight.

Long ride last Saturday of 34 minutes. Almost ended early. He had a really tough time since his bike fit is the worst while he waits for his new bike. After 29 minutes he got off and puked his guts out. I followed him outside to make sure he was ok. I asked if he was done and he said "hell no, let's finish this ride." We went back inside and he finished it off. What a stud.

Didn't get his bike yesterday. A bit annoyed at that. The bike fitter is still waiting on some parts so they pushed his final fit to tomorrow. Crossing my fingers he'll get it tomorrow for his next ride on Thursday.

Today he went to the nutritionist. He's still underwhelmed with the food he's allowed to eat and ate less protein than he should have. Nutritionist was excited with his results, but he was underwhelmed due to the meals being terrible. He lost 6.9 lbs on the scale from last Tuesday. 3 lbs of fat, 2.2 lbs of muscle, and the rest water. She thinks it'll be three more weeks until he gets under 300 lbs. Once he hits that threshold, that'll be a HUGE milestone for him.

He's wanting to increase the watts once he gets his bike so he can see faster results. I don't think he realizes that cycling a bit three times a week isn't the main driver of losing weight. It's his diet and if he keeps that up, he'll be fine.

Regarding saving a life - He went for a walk yesterday with his son (a walk he almost certainly wouldn't have been on had he not been on this journey). A cyclist was speeding down the hill in his neighborhood and somehow crashed. He watched it happen. The guy wasn't wearing a helmet and he saw him land on his head, drag for a bit, and THEN his body hit. He ran over to check on him and he was convulsing and bleeding heavily from his head. He called 911 and got an ambulance there ASAP. Apparently the guy was visiting one his neighbors from out of town. He got a text today from the neighbor thanking him for being there, calling 911, and telling him that he's in the hospital but improving and likely doesn't need surgery. CB doctors can probably better tell if he saved his life, but I'll just assume he did.
