I bet if BYU and Utah switched rivalry record over the last decade plus you wouldn't think the rivalry was toxic at all. What you are feeling right now is what Utah fans felt during the Lavell years. It could easily swing back that way in 4-5 years.

I don't know a single Utah fan that thinks its worse than it used to be. There are plenty of Ute fans that don't want to play BYU, but not because the rivalry is toxic more toxic than it used to be. It's usually because it has always been toxic, or because they think playing BYU doesn't benefit the Utes.
