BYU was a fantastic program in the 80s and early 90s. Awesome accomplishments. Nothing to take away. Boise too was phenomenal as a WAC school.

But it’s easier when you play opponents every week who are markedly less talented and fewer resources.

Because it’s hard to do. BYU fans get so caught up in railing everything Utah does, they forget how special of accomplishments 2004 and 2008 were.

The biggest difference is Utah and TCU is their big seasons as steppingstones to take the programs to a higher level,
