I'm not a scientist, but I do know that you don't fully get the benefits that fasting brings such as hormone reset,
insulin effects, ketosis, until after like 24 hours into the fast. Most of these benefits don't come until the 2nd day and wouldn't peak until late in the 2nd day. Are there some benefits to fasting 12-14 hours every day besides just caloric restriction? Absolutely. But they would be somewhat minimal.
That being said, one thing I like about fasting is you practice self control and learn to master your own will. This is HUGE in sustained weight loss and many more things in the human experience.
