There's a difference between not begging to join and going out of your way to
make it abundantly clear that you think you are better than the conference and whine and complain about being forced to play in this "truck stop" conference.
It's the complete lack of respect shown to both the conference and the institutions who are members of it (and their fantasies) that cause the rest of the conference to hate you.
