However, even the most successful public transit systems still lose gobs of money. Public transit just has so many problems with it.

One of those problems is people expecting it to be run like a business and return profit rather than operate as a public service.

We spend tons more money on roads but not a single person is complaining that they're a money pit.  Why the discrepancy?
