I see many times when BYU is disciplined (and especially when Ansah was ....
...covering), when BYU would get KOR stops inside the 20. The problem is, I can recall nearly as many times when BYU's KOR coverage right after a TD would yield a 40+ yard return. There is something about BYU's concentration and discipline level that seems to drop on KOR coverage that follow a score. You rarely see BYU give up a long return when kicking off at the beginning of a half...it is after a big emotional score that BYU fails. As I looked back, those were usually scores that gave BYU a lead change. There is something about that emotional lift of taking a lead that results in the team's lower concentration of execution on the KOR coverage that is a disturbing trend over 5 years. I am not alone in this observation either. There are others who comment on CB that have noticed this trend as well. On several occasions it has been late in the 4th quarter and BYU has been lucky enough to hang on to win after giving short field plays to it's opponent. Oklahoma was a classic example, but there were many others.
