I've definitely experienced it, in my ward
I think we're the only family in the ward without immediate family nearby. In other places I've lived outside of Utah, couples do things like exchange babysitting, go to each other's houses for Sunday dinners, etc. In our ward, everyone uses their families for babysitting, and spends Sundays with their extended families.

Which is understandable, I would do the same. But it does make it harder for those of us without family nearby to have those types of experiences. It's not a big deal to me, I prefer to keep to myself. But it was hard for my wife for a while.
