Lots of teams lose fan interest when they lose games.
It has nothing to do with conference affiliation.
Are you suggesting conference affiliation (especially with the AAC) somehow makes a fan feel better about losing games? Maybe you could have argued that being in a conference gives us some rivalry games to look forward to at the end of the season, but that argument was lost when you suggested joining the AAC.
