You engaged in hyperbolic distortion of his argument. There is always a subset that follows the crowd when the crowd is buzzing with energy and excitement. Once the buzz dies, the diehards remain, but those looking for the excitement draw away. That subset is important for the success of the program.

And those who still watch will invest lest in going to games. I know a season ticket holder that stops going to games after they lose a few. He is a high level CC member who has donated big bucks.
