A lot of faulty logic above
This post is full of speculation and faulty logic:

1) You don't know the infraction, nor do you know the exact penalty (other than missing one game). That being said, how can you possibly conclude on the fairness or perceived unfairness of the consequence.

2) All attending BYU sign the honor code, member and non-member of the Church. Why should a non-member, who agrees to live by the honor code be shown more leniency than a "member" who agrees to live the honor code? All know the rules.....there are no surprises to any, member of the church or not. (It seems like you are equating honor code discipline to church discipline..........that is ridiculous and shows a misunderstanding of both church discipline and honor code discipline).

3) The purposes of attending the temple and attending BYU are different. As such, doesn't it makes sense that the requirements are a bit different? That being said, maybe the honor code should be updated, but saying it should equate to the temple recommend requirements is a foolish argument.

I too am sad for JJ, however there is too much unknown to conclude on the fairness of the punishment.
