I personally know a non lds foreign student
who, a long with a couple other non lds students, who were caught with marijuana but BYU did not press charges solely because these kids were foreign. Therefore, all they got was a slap on the wrist from the HC office because they were foreign non-lds. I have seen the same case the opposite way end in immediate dismissal.

The case for the HC and student athletes- almost every non lds student athlete during their time at BYU has some sort of run in with the HC office. The Coaches really do protect them as much as possible, and in a lot of cases, the HC office turns it over to the coach. Every BOT knows that athletes represent and bring publicity to BYU more so than any regular student. So, they give them second chances, unless what they are doing is throwing BYU's name in the mud and making them look bad- such was the case with Davies. Imagine the type of publicity we would have received had he not been asked to withdraw from classes.

I do agree the HC needs updating though
