1. Independence: There were perks of being in a conference including familiarity with opponents and rivalries. With independence, the schedule has a bunch of random teams and the season feels less goal oriented. There was a lot of buzz when BYU was pushing for a conference championship and CSU or AFA was coming to town.
2. Ticket Prices: When you combine a random home schedule with an increase in ticket prices, demand drops off.
3. Mediocre Seasons: BYU has been mediocre the past couple of years. Winning brings in the fans. We've been decent, but haven't had a breakout season.
4. Losing to Utah: Laying an egg against your rival sucks the life out of a fanbase. Last year LES was pumped only to see the team come out flat and lose again. That kills support.
