educational institutions don't make money, so the for-profit side of LDS won't

go for this. The Church loses tons of money on church education institutions already, but they feel the value outweighs the cost.

the money is most definitely part of the reason for this because the Church is not wanting to increase funding to church education, just maintain it and do things more efficiently.
