That one game certainly doesn't prove anything, you are correct. Neither do the number of close games. There is no way to "prove" that BYU has failed to develop their talent relative to Utah, or to disprove it. But I would argue that overall record is a better indicator than total yards or any other stat you choose to rely on. And I was merely pointing out that they certainly weren't all close...
