I don't think it does. But I think it attracts a different kind of kid. Kids
that go on missions as a whole are different from the general population. Those are the recruiting base ... not entirely ... but a large portion of the 60 miles around Provo. The type of kids that want to come to BYU might not have the same fire or as they age and get married have the aggression others do. Possible.

I want BYU to win and don't think the honor code takes more time to follow than not. But it does shrink your possible recruiting pool. That is a big advantage in college football, where the difference between winning and losing is pretty slim. The odds are not in BYU's favor.
