RE: you are acting like you are powerless to the situation. you are not
My team is small.
There's only one other guy on the team with a brain and a work ethic to fill in for me. Unfortunately, he's been with the company for only a year. In my field at my company, a year is no where near enough time to know how to do everything we're asked to do from moment to moment.

Here's an example of the stuff that gets dished on us:
My company is a contact center. We have hundreds of clients. You've heard of most of them.
We have about 5000 employees devoted to one of them that was recently affected by a fraud issue with another of the contact center's they use. The result is that they suddenly require all sorts of new security restrictions that needed to be implemented within a couple of weeks.

For my team, that meant creating email restrictions that didn't previously exist and weren't even possibly to implement with our current email server application (Exchange 2007). To accommodate the new requirements, we needed to build a new email platform on new hardware that we didn't even have yet, create the restrictions and migrate 5000 users within 2 weeks.
That's a job that I"d guess most companies would allow a few months to do.
It meant not merely working long nights, but almost around the clock for a couple of weeks straight. We'd take a few hours a night to sleep and then go at it again. With lack of sleep came mistakes that we'd need to fix.

And that was just this month.

We have things like that hit us regularly.
My team is small. Unfortunately, I'm good enough to not fail.

I also don't like the idea of taking a pay cut to go elsewhere.
