The lifelong laker fan is absolutely correct and that is why we MUST change the way we do business now.
No more business as usual.

Our own self imposed rules that no longer work must be changed.

We limit ourselves out of business in this new era of Big Business College Football, by requiring that our HC must be a member in good standing.

Instead, we should put more of the liability of the HONOR CODE for both the coaches and the team players as the responsibility of the AD. The AD must hire, and make clear the religious requirements of not doing things to embarrass the Church or it’s University, and then hire the best coaches in the Nation and not just the best LDS coaches in the Nation. Remember we have over 300 million citizens in the country and only about 8 million LDS in the country plus another 4 million outside the country.
It is time to stop limiting ourselves while other universities to not have that limitation.

Also instead, we can no longer afford to get the cheapest labor in coaching that would be willing to come to our University. Those days have passed. They are gone. We just have not accepted it yet.
We now must get the best coaches we can find in the Nation regardless of their membership or lack of it, or the cost.

It will be far more expensive in a very short time to hold onto the cheapest coaches than to pay the going market for the best coaches. Every action has an equal but opposite reaction. Remember?

It would be better to be a very important P5 respected power team with a non member coach, if indeed that coach is the best available, than to be a mediocre mid-major team headed into a sphere
of non significance .
