Bronco happens to be the head coach, so while you're right there are others that

factor into the outcome of the game, he's the one getting paid to answer for the team's successes and failures. Happens all the time in the real world, and it actually happens at other schools besides BYU. Plenty of coaches get put on the hotseat for a team's poor performance even if the performance is due to factors beyond the coach's control.
