Time is money. For the amount of time spent hating on Bronco
they could work a second job and donate the money to BYU athletics thus perhaps allowing more ability to hire quality coaches, have better facilities, etc.

Or...just go to the game where profits are applied to the athletic program which allows more ability to hire quality coaches, have better facilities etc. To the extent possible, fandom is demonstrated by voting with time and money. I went to Florida twice to see BYU this year...and we lost. But I was there in blue. I was on some small level supporting the program by time, money, and getting my tiny dot of blue into the picture.

You can be part of the problem, or part of the solution...even if only on a small level. Exerting so much time and mental energy to tear down a program that you claim to be a fan of is not being part of the solution. As I was taught many years ago. Praise in public, critique in private. By all means send your concerns to the AD. By all means be brutally honest on the survey. But when coaches are trying to sell BYU during recruiting season as a unique place where much of the vitriol of normal society is tempered...proving the opposite on the primary sports message board isn't being part of the solution. Showing recruits empty sections of the stadium isn't part of the solution.

As Payne wrote, "THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman."

No one has to like Bronco or Rose or Holmoe or any particular individual that is part of the program. But just as there used to be an unofficial belief, a belief that should still stand, that politics stops at the water's edge. Likewise harsh critiques that trash the program and sow seeds that can be used by other programs are not part of the solution...certainly not in public.

There are many avenues to voice your discontent that would be in house...either directly to the administration or through friends only on this board. Jason Buck is revered by many on this board for trashing the program yesterday during an incredibly critical and sensitive time, the week before NLI day. That's not being part of the solution. He knows Holmoe. He has a place to express his discontent. The airways of Utah...and by virtue of this board and twitter a week before signing day, are not the time nor places.

I am a fan of the program. I try to demonstrate publicly through word and deed. Like Reagan said, "thou shalt not speak ill of fellow Republicans." The same principle applies. Tact is not one of the bad four letter words. It's a good way to critique pros and cons in public. Behind closed doors...let it rip.
