I can't speak for all ALUF's, but I hate the FB program (bronco) not the school.
I think Bronco is a hypocrite. He recruits using guilt tactics which I think is manipulative and unethical. A 17 year old man shouldn't feel like he is turning his back on the church by picking another school. He also uses bishops and mission presidents to pressure kids into committing or switching schools which is an unethical use of priesthood authority.

He acts "tough" like he wants to do the right thing but is a total coward when it comes to disciplining players. The mild suspensions for the Memphis Brawl exemplify this, as was his refusal to punish the groin puncher. I'm not saying Memphis wasn't worse nor the instigator but Tejan should have been suspended and Bronco was too big of a coward to do so.

His players are among the dirtiest in the country, yet he does nothing about it.

I don't believe that BYU football is a net-positive missionary tool. Of course there are a few positive examples like the Tanner Mangum interview, but those are overshadowed by the negatives, like the groin punch leading PTI, Around the Horn, and DP show the following week and Bronco's refusal to suspend also being a talking point the following day. Any good will built up by Mangum pales in comparison to the negativity from a week of everyone talking about how dirty BYU is and how Bronco wussed out on the suspension. I think it probably was a positive missionary tool under Lavell although I was too young to pay attention back then.

I like Dave Rose. He is a great guy and I cheer for him in every game outside of Utah.

I love BYU as an academic institution, I think it is great that the church's university has such a great reputation. I am annoyed by some dumb things in the honor code such as beards and no caffeinated beverages but those seem to annoy 80% of cougarboard members as well.

So there you go. I'm not sure if your question was rhetorical but that is the opinion of one ALUF and most I talk to feel similarly. Of course my temple recommend is up for renewal in December so if I guess I'm open to suggestions as to why this "hatred" disqualifies me. However, since 50% of cougarboard hates Bronco (albeit for much different reasons), maybe I'm still okay.
