Too many people for some unknown reason to me think that working 40 hours per week will provide a debt free
lifestyle. For most, that just isn't the case. My grandparents worked 60 hrs week. My parents worked 50 hours per week. And now my siblings are shocked that they have money issues despite the fact that they only work 40 hours per week. For my siblings their problems aren't that they spend too much, their problem is that they've incorrectly assumed that 40 hours is enough. For them, by far, the best way to improve their financial situation is to find a job that rewards them for working 60 hours per week. (or to find a second job).

60 hours/week is so manageable. Plenty of time in the day to work, play, spend time with family etc. For most people it just means less time watching tv. Imagine if they stopped watching 4 hours of tv per night and instead spend 4 more hours at work?

AND had they started by working 60 hours per week when they were younger (and had no kids or very small kids) they would have significant savings today. Savings that possibly would be making more money per year than they make at their job.

The majority of people I know with money problems work fewer than 50 hours per week. The majority of people I know who work more than 50 hours per week don't have money problems. Obviously there are exceptions but I think that as a general rule I'm correct.

Your list is great - but..... as I said before. You can only cut expenses by so much and although you mention ways to increase revenues I think your list fails to focus on it enough. Being financially independent is hard work - we shouldn't shy away from telling people to suck it up and get to work.
