I did see that he was interviewed. He was told what the job was. And then both sides went on to determine their level of interest based on what they learned about each other.
I'm not convinced Ken N ever had a job offer.
I am sure BYU was interesting in talking to him and seeing what his interest was and what he might plan to do with the program if hired. That doesn't mean he was offered the job. I've seen the interview he received interpreted that way - and it may be that he was offered the job. But nothing definitive was ever reported to my recollection.
