being interested. Having some sort of tie means very little to very many. If any of this were true, tons of the Poly's BYU has already offered would be lining up to come. Yet plenty have, and will always say no. Serious reality check here with a silly assumption that so many would be interested. This is where his misconception of "miss" comes from.
Even in his clarification point, it's still a bad "if...then..." assumption. He's putting way too much stock in "every poly has a connection." That pushes the assumption that because of it, they should all come running. It just doesn't work that way. Same way not every LDS kid has to love BYU and want to be a part of it, regardless of the fact that some strange fans seem to think they should like it is their duty.
Have to face the reality that very many of them flat out are not interested, many for the same reasons anyone else isn't interested.
Nobody is missing his point. It's an over exaggerated point. I'll wait for one of you guys to say I don't understand your culture and the influence that has, but reality like I said is that a ton of the guys who have always said no, still will.
