I agree with some of your points, but let's get out of the forest and try to get the meat of his point.

I believe that his overall point is that BYU should target every elite Polynesian player that fit the BYU mold regardless of their religious affiliation because pretty much all Tongans/Samoans have ties to the LDS community and most would be comfortable in the BYU environment.

Regarding interest, there are many Polys that do not like BYU and never will, even with the Poly staff currently in place. Let's just take player interest completely out of the equation. BYU does not offer scholarships based on interest. You offer the best Poly athletes who display solid character, regardless of whether or not they like or dislike BYU. I have known players, Poly and non-Poly, in the past that had no interest in BYU, but had family members influence them to go to the Y and they ended up flourishing.
