He basically said the opposite, that not only should BYU target them all, they have a very good chance with them all too just because they likely know someone who is LDS.

And sorry, that's a ridiculous statement that pretty much all Tongans/Samoans would be comfortable in the BYU environment. That's baseless. Plenty want to party and do all sorts of things like every other college kid, that wouldn't fit at BYU. You have nothing to base such a statement on. Having some sort of relative tie in no way says they themselves would be good fits at BYU.

Now don't get me wrong, I've been pushing the "BYU's pool isn't as small as some of you think" train. People who believe it is smaller than it is are just settling for less. They'd rather pick the perfect boy scout who isn't good at football, over the "questionable character" guy every time.

So yeah, I do believe they could have a stronger influence. But come on, lets not jump on some crazy train.
