of Polynesians is the only one ridin that train.
And, not sure how you came up with this statement "And sorry, that's a ridiculous statement that pretty much all Tongans/Samoans would be comfortable in the BYU environment". Did you not read my post, I said “ pretty much all Tongans/Samoans have ties to the LDS community and MOST would be comfortable in the BYU environment.” Both points are true. Pretty much all Samoans/Tongans have ties to the LDS church and if you don’t believe that more than half of Polys (both LDS and non) would be comfortable in the BYU environment, then yes, I agree, you don’t understand us. Again, not saying that they would not rather be somewhere else, but if BYU was a perennial top 10 powerhouse, then yes, most would be comfortable at BYU.
You might say it would be the same for white, black, Hispanic, etc recruits, and I would agree to a point. But the fact that just about every Poly has sufficient exposure to mormons and knowledge about the LDS culture, would definitely have relatives in Utah County and the fact that Polynesians form a natural support group for each other, the likelihood of nonLDS Polynesians being comfortable and even thriving in Provo is higher when compared to any other ethnic group under the same circumstances. If you can’t agree with that, then let’s just agree to disagree and move on.
