Another thing to consider, figure out exactly how much insurance you need. 300K to pay off the mortgage + $X per year for the wife to live off until the kids are in college and she can start working fulltime. $X per year should be less than you make now since there is no mortgage and no need to buy ESPN game plan, etc etc now that you are dead. Don't overbuy insurance.
