You are right - physical limitations come into play.
Nobody has ever kicked a 90 yard field goal. So just because somebody is 0-2 from 90 yards, doesn't mean he could make one.
My problem with what you're saying, though, is that just because he hasn't made one from 40+, that doesn't mean he can't. But that's what you're saying - "He hasn't hit a 40 + yet, which shows he can't" - no, it shows that he *hasn't*
Has he really never in his life kicked a 40+ yard field goal? Even in practice?
