For crying out loud, this is not the Taysom Hill Farewell Tour.
He's not Derek Jeter or Kobe Bryant. It's not like he's won a national championship or a Super Bowl. His past accomplishments are just not impressive or great enough to justify the coaches continuing to play him out of respect, especially when his play on the field has been so horrendous. He has been stinking it up and there is no way to sugarcoat it.
Any other coaching staff would have benched him a long time ago. It is inexplicable and unfathomable why our coaches haven't done so yet. Heck, I don't remember Jake Heaps struggling quite this badly back in 2011, and he was benched 5 games into the season.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this and the only logical explanation I can think of is that Kalani and Ty did a full court press on Taysom to get him to come back this year and promised him the starting job if he did come back this season. I'm guessing he was very close to transferring to Virginia to play for Bronco and Anae or else just retire from football altogether, before Kalani and Ty made him some guarantees if he did return to BYU for his senior year. I have no evidence to back that up, just conjecture. But it does make sense. Maybe they don't want to bench him, because they feel like they would be going back on their word or not keeping their promise.

It's just maddening and frustrating. I don't know for sure that Tanner would play much better, but he at least deserves a chance to show what he can do. He deserved that opportunity several games ago.
