It is about the team, not comparing stats
Seriously? It is important to let Taysom take the next 4 games so he can improve his stats, and he doesn't look bad compared to Tanner? Ridiculous.
Taysom had his chance to rack up stats while James Lark and Christian Stewart sat. He had his chance to rack up stats while he was sailing the ball over the heads of receivers. He has had plenty of chances to rack up stats.
Now, the important strategic thing is to prepare for next year, as a big win early in the year would be huge for the program. There are no opportunities for big wins or national rankings left for this year. Even if we lose a couple of games putting Tanner in this year, it is better for the program if it leads to a big win next year. Sacrificing a pawn for a queen.
