Yes, it is fair. Here's why:
Taysom was better than Mangum before the season started. He won. Rumor has it that part of the reason is that Hill settled into the offense quicker than Mangum. Hill won, FAIR and square.

No matter who won the battle, there was going to be growing pains in the offense. Everyone knew and expected that. So it really wouldn't be fair or intelligent to have pulled Hill during the UCLA game and put Mangum in. The UCLA game was simply too early to make that decision. I was one of the impatient ones who silently hoped Mangum would go in after halftime of the UCLA game. That was my own impatience as a fan. But I still think Detmer made the right call for that time.

The offense then went on and clicked pretty well against WVU, so again... a switch would not have been warranted.

Then we won three in a row, including wins over a BIG10 and SEC team. We did enough to win. Is it fair to pull him yet? No. Still not seeing it.

The fact of the matter is that Hill won before the season started, and while Hill has been average (and below average at times), it hasn't warranted benching him. Particularly when half the problem isn't just Taysom, but some horrific WR play as well - and particularly when we played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.
