holding the clipboard, waiting your turn, and seeing what the OC sees. Especially when it's not clear that you're better than the incumbent.
Sure, it's not the same as playing in the game and there are lessons that you can only learn through game time experience--but there are nuances to the game that you catch on the sideline that you wouldn't catch in the chaos that's happening on the field (ask Steve Young and John Beck). Some players never mature and develop bad habits that they can never overcome (e.g., Jake Heaps). Tanner has the tools and he'll be good, but maybe Taysom is just better right now. Tanner will get his turn...and I think that he'll be better for having learned from the master in a relatively low-pressure environment.
