i don't see it.
But it may be that some serious myth busting may have occurred this season.
After many years of foolish dreams of coaches, CBers, commentators, or in a word faulty conventional thinking, that the solution to imagined years of BYU offensive ills would be easily overcome with a post focal point, people in the program and audiences alike have been awaken with a 2X4.
Too bad we didn't get smart a year earlier. The data was out there. BYU's best offensive team ever was 2015 during a season constantly lamented for its lack of post scoring. Instead, they had to settle for Tyler Haws, KC, Halford, Winder, and Fischer. That team finished 10th in the nation in adjusted offensive PPP.
Post play was a problem; it was a big problem, on defense! Teams need tall/big low block presence to be effective on defense. So it is imperative to have good bigs on the floor.
What might have been this past year with a wiser philosophy.
Of course, it's good to have post scoring. It's usually not so good to subordinate a complete half court game to that end. But, it is not essential to have a high volume post scorer if everyone else on the court is efficient, a la 2015.
Assume we won't hear the media, coaches, or others preaching that false religion anymore.
i am a believer that smart, committed people will learn and adjust. Look forward to seeing how this program reinvents itself over the summer.
We have talent. I have hope.
